Two new courses launched this month by Home Learning College allow IT professionals to develop their knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2, and work towards Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification. The courses - MCITP Server Administrator and MCITP Enterprise Administrator – are delivered by distance learning and come with bespoke course materials and expert tutorial support.
Windows Server 2008 R2 is Microsoft’s most advanced server operating system, used by organisations around the world. Gaining MCITP accreditation denotes the ability to perform specific tasks within this operating system. Server Administrators focus on day-to-day management, spending 60 per cent of their time on operational matters. This includes crucial maintenance tasks such as managing file structure and directory services, software updates, troubleshooting, vulnerability-assessment scans and monitoring intrusion-detection systems.
Enterprise Administrators are responsible for the overall Windows Server 2008 environment and architecture. This includes translating business goals into technology decisions and making decisions in areas such as networking, security policy and business continuity. A typical Enterprise Administrator will spend around two thirds of their time focusing on engineering, with the rest split between operations and support tasks.
Home Learning College’s new courses develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to take the relevant exams and gain MCITP Server Administrator and Enterprise Administrator accreditation. These are comparable to the highly popular MCSA and MCSE Windows Server 2003 certifications, currently being phased out by Microsoft.
Students enrolling on these courses will benefit from access to Home Learning College’s online learning platform, where they can participate in live classes, access digital course materials and take part in forums with tutors and fellow students. Exam fees are included in the course fee, and an optional student discount card and career management service are also available.
“Gaining Microsoft accreditation is one of the best ways for IT professionals to prove their abilities and advance their career,” says Dave Snow, Academic Director at Home Learning College. “Our new MCITP distance learning courses allow people to develop their knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2, and undertake appropriate preparation for the associated exams, without ever setting foot in a classroom.”
