Alan Evans - CEO Home Learning College
Alan Evans joined Home Learning College as CEO in June 2006. Prior to that he held a number of board positions as part of the Littlewoods Home Shopping Group.
Alan has a degree in Computing and Information Systems from Manchester University and an MBA from Manchester Business School. In total, he has over 20 year's experience in home shopping and distance retailing.
In the late 1990s Alan spent five years as Financial Services Director of Littlewoods, building a profitable business that included a credit book of £1bn, and £100m of insurance sales. During this time, while serving on the board of Littlewoods Personal Finance, he formed a successful joint venture with Barclaycard. He was also a board member of Staley Insurance Service, an Isle of Man-based captive insurance business.
In 2000 Alan took responsibility for strategy and e-commerce within the Littlewoods group, taking sales in e-commerce from £50m to £100m. In 2002, he became Managing Director of LXdirect. LXdirect was a £250m traditional catalogue business which Alan transformed into a modern, profitable, online department store.
