From absolute beginner to competent bookkeeper
Our Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Professional course includes modules at levels 1, 2 and 3, ensuring you develop a solid understanding of the skills required to become a professional bookkeeper.
You will start with the basics, such as the 'Double Entry System', before learning to undertake financial processes for sole traders using Excel and Sage, the world’s most popular bookkeeping software package.
Open doors to a variety of roles
The second half of the course will teach you to use bookkeeping for management information purposes and prepare books for partnerships and limited companies, ensuring you are in even greater demand from employers. Alternatively, you will be in a position to become self employed by establishing your own bookkeeping practice.
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive:
- ICB Certificate in Basic Bookkeeping Level 1
- ICB Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping Level 2
- ICB Certificate in Computerised Bookkeeping Level 2

- Optional Sage Certificate of Competency
You will cover a wide range of subjects including reconciliations, VAT returns, managing and forecasting budgets, depreciation, prepayments, accruals, limited liability companies, installing accounting software and converting from manual to computerised accounts.

Students should have a keen interest in bookkeeping with an eye for detail. A GCSE, or equivalent, in mathematics is desirable, but not essential.
