Enterprise administrators translate business goals into technology decisions and design mid-range to long-term strategies.
At this level you will be responsible for balancing business requirements against platform capabilities in order to maintain a secure and stable environment and a thorough understanding of server solutions, Active Directory, and applications critical to the business. At times, you may also need to fulfil an architectural design role.
The typical required experience for the server administrator job role is three to eight years and the scope of the role is usually broken down as follows:
- 20 % operations
- 60 % engineering
- 20 % support tasks
The Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification helps validate that an individual has the comprehensive set of skills necessary to perform a particular job role, such as database administrator or enterprise messaging administrator. MCITP certifications build on the technical proficiency measured in the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications. Therefore, you will earn one or more MCTS certifications on your way to earning an MCITP certification.

It also demonstrates your ability to use new features, including web tools, virtualisation technologies, security enhancements and management utilities.
