Care workers play a vital role in social care, and our EDI Certificate in Care Skills will give you the knowledge and confidence to develop a successful career in this sector, whether you have prior experience or not.
During the course you will learn about the GSCC Code of Practice for Social Care Workers and the responsibilities of care workers. The Care Skills Certificate covers a wide range of social care subjects such as first aid, risk assessment and security in the workplace, effective communication, personal hygiene and nutritional needs.

Care workers improve the lives of vulnerable people including children, the elderly, people with disabilities and families. You will work with clients on a weekly or daily basis assisting in practical activities such as going to the shops or helping with household chores. You may also liaise with people from other departments on their behalf, such as social services, housing officers and GPs.
Upon successful completion of this course you will gain an EDI Level 1 Certificate in Care Skills. EDI are one of the largest accredited awarding bodies in the UK vocational sector. This will enable you start as a care worker with a salary of up to £11,987* per annum.
While no formal qualifications are required to apply for care worker jobs, a recognised qualification will significantly enhance your employability by demonstrating commitment and self-motivation to potential employers.
The National Qualifications Framework (NQF) outlines that Level 1 qualifications recognise the ability for a student to gain good knowledge and understanding of a subject area of work or study, and to perform varied tasks with some guidance or supervision. Learning at this level involves building knowledge and/or skills in relation to an area of work or a subject area and is appropriate for many job roles.
Students are advised to ensure they are following a course of study which leads to an appropriate qualification for their intended occupation. Advice on suitable courses is available from local authorities and employers or sector skills councils.
