Syllabus for the AAT Level 2 and 3 course

The Syllabus is set by the AAT but we translate those requirements into a unique combination of personalised activities that give you the confidence to progress and achieve your qualification.For their new syllabus, the AAT use more demanding synoptic assessments at fixed times of the year. Level 2 & 3 accounting training will equip you for a mid- level role in an Accounting or Finance department. By the end of the course you will have a solid understanding of manual and computerised accounts and how to use them in a 'real world' setting.

The AAT Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Accounting (Advanced) consists of eleven separate units:

You will be provided with textbooks for each unit (also given as e-books on the Virtual Learning Campus).

To enrol on our AAT Level 2 Certificate and Level 3 Diploma (Advanced) course we recommend that you have basic GCSE level English and Mathematics qualifications and a keen interest in Accounting. We also recommend that students take the AAT’s Skill Check to measure their prior knowledge.

Before you enrol on this Home Learning College course, please ensure that you have read and understood the prerequisites below:

  • You have a valid UK address (AAT qualifications cannot be studied outside the UK, Channel Isles or Isle of Man)
  • You are over the age of 18 or have a third party payee for any financial agreement
  • You have a solid grasp of the English language. IELTS 5.5 or equivalent is required if English is not your first language
  • You have access to a computer and the Internet throughout your study period
  • You have basic computer skills in order to navigate our Virtual Learning Campus and regular access to the Internet

When you have completed the AAT Level 2 & 3 Diploma (Advanced) course you will gain your qualification and achieve the status of a Part-qualified Accounting Technician. This is really valuable for your CV and LinkedIn profile.

All the vital skills and knowledge you have learnt throughout the AAT Level 2 & 3 course will set you up perfectly for a mid-level finance role. This expertise will qualify you for roles including Credit Controller, Accounts Officer or Accounts Assistant.

But your career opportunities don’t need to end here – progressing to the Level 4 Diploma (Professional) really extends your job prospects and earning potential. Completing the AAT pathway is approximately equivalent to the first year of an honours degree and allows you to use the letters MAAT after your name and to go on to study with British Chartered Accountancy bodies such as the ACCA. AAT is the only professional qualification that allows progression to Chartered status from entry level.
